Build Your Home With Interior Design In Mind

If youre building a home, chances are your vision is not limited to the architecture. Your imagination has probably filled every room in the house with some idea of how you want it to look the colors, the textures and the overall design elements. Whats harder though is bringing your imagination to life, which is exactly what a qualified interior designer can help you do.

Manhattan interior designer Mark Polo has 30 years of experience helping his clients realize the home of their dreams. In fact, this award-winning New York interior designer is one of the regions most sought after personal and professional New York interior design consultants, and he has the interior design gallery to prove it. The same is also true of his work as a New Jersey interior designer. In fact, Polos interior design services are available to homeowners all over the country.

However, as Polo points out, you need not wait until your house is built to bring an interior designer on to the project. In fact, you will be far better served to bring one in at the very beginning.

An interior designer can work with your architect and your builder as a third pair of eyes to ensure that the function and beauty of your new home are seamlessly blended together.

Knowledgeable of feng shui, the Chinese art of placement, Polo can make sure that all of the elements planned for the architecture of your home promote good chi, or energy flow through your home. These are principles that have been practiced in China for thousands of years for a reason; they work. In building a brand new home, you have a tremendous opportunity to create the ultimate feng shui-friendly space.

Plus, if you were to wait until after your home is built to consult with an interior designer, it may be harder and more expensive to incorporate new design elements than if you had included it as part of the initial building phase of the project.

Whether its a water fountain, terrarium, fireplace, shelving, ceiling fans, kitchen island or any other design element you want, its most time- and cost-effective to include them in the blueprints from the very beginning. However, the last thing you want is your builder to incorporate these elements in places where an interior designer knowledgeable of feng shui practices and other design principles would know better.

If youre building a home, or simply looking to redesign the one you have, request your appointment with Mark Polo today.

Whats the point of having a room in your home that doesnt get used for anything more than a showcase for trophies or other precious belongings that no one is allowed to touch? You home should feel inviting and lived in, and no room should be an exception. There are plenty of creative ways to display your personal treasures without sacrificing the freedom to enjoy every square foot of your home.

US Representative Anthony Weiner resigns over sexual conduct

US Representative Anthony Weiner resigns over sexual conduct

Friday, June 17, 2011

Anthony Weiner announced his resignation yesterday afternoon as a Democratic representative from New York to the U.S. House of Representatives, a position he has filled for twelve years. He has been under pressure from politicians within his own party after a sex scandal engulfed his life and that of the Democratic party.

Weiner told reporters it was “impossible” to continue in his role after the events of the last few weeks, including revelations that he was involved in sexual relationships with a number of young women over the internet, including sending lewd photos of himself, and then lying about his actions to reporters.

He announced his resignation at a press conference in a Brooklyn senior center where 20 years ago he began his political career and apologized for his “personal mistakes”. His wife, Huma Abedin, did not accompany him, but Weiner apologized to her in his speech, saying that he hopes “most importantly, that my wife and I can continue to heal from the damage that I’ve caused.” He took no questions from reporters.

On June 6, Weiner had admitted to corresponding with women he met on the internet, including exchanging lewd photos. But on June 11 he declared in an emotional interview he would not resign. Under pressure from Democrats, Weiner requested a two-week leave of absence from his position in order to obtain treatment to become “a better husband and healthier person.”

However, Democratic politicians became increasingly anxious to put the growing scandal behind them, as it distracted members from more important issues such as problems with Medicare and the need for more jobs. As the scandal gained momentum, a variety of politicians, including Nancy Pelosi, the House Minority Leader, called on him to resign. President Barack Obama said he would resign if he were in Weiner’s place in an interview with ABC News.

“Weiner exercised poor judgment in his actions and poor judgment in his reaction to the revelations,” Pelosi said in a statement after Weiner announced his resignation. “Today, he made the right judgment in resigning.”

The scandal came to light May 27 after Weiner accidentally sent a photograph of his crotch on his public stream on the social networking website Twitter, and then tried to cover it up by blaming hackers for posting the picture, denying all responsibility.

Weiner later admitted sending online messages to other women, including to a 17-year-old high school student in Delaware, though a police investigation uncovered nothing illegal. On Wednesday, a former porn actress revealed that she had engaged in an online relationship with Weiner and that Weiner had asked her to lie about the nature of their contact.

More photos have continued to emerge, including one showing his nude genitals, and others showing him half naked. On Wednesday, the National Enquirer published images of Weiner cross-dressing while he was a college student at the State University of New York at Plattsburgh. In one photo, he is seen wearing a bra and pantyhose, while in another he is oiled and wearing swimming trunks.

Congressman Weiner exercised poor judgment in his actions and poor judgment in his reaction to the revelations. Today, he made the right judgment in resigning.

Colleagues said Weiner wanted to wait for the return home of his wife, Abedin, before making a final career decision. He has been married for almost a year to Abedin, who is pregnant with the couple’s first child. She is a top aide to Hillary Clinton, the Secretary of State, and the couple’s wedding was presided over by former President Bill Clinton. She returned home to Washington, D.C. on Wednesday morning after having traveled with Clinton in the Middle East and Africa since June 8.

Weiner’s district covers parts of Brooklyn and Queens, boroughs of New York City. He ran an unsuccessful campaign for mayor of New York City in 2005, and he was considered a potential candidate for future races. Known to be an outspoken supporter of liberal causes, he has irked conservatives and Democratic leaders. In 2009, he pushed for government-run health care, even though Obama had opposed the idea.

Boyzone member Stephen Gately dies at age 33

Sunday, October 11, 2009

Boyzone member Stephen Gately has died suddenly at the age of 33 while on holiday on the Spanish island of Majorca.

Gately was on holiday with his partner Andrew Cowles when his body was found on Saturday. The information was confirmed on Boyzone’s official website on Sunday. The other members of Boyzone were said to be travelling to the same island on Sunday before his death was discovered. Dan Wootton, showbusiness editor for British tabloid News of the World, told BBC News that the singer had left the means of accommodation to go out for some drinks, returned, fell asleep and never woke up again. Spanish police report his body was found on a sofa in the lounge.

Louis Walsh, manager of the group and also a judge on UK television singing competition The X Factor, commented, “We’re all absolutely devastated. I’m in complete shock. I was only with him on Monday at an awards ceremony. We don’t know much about what’s happened yet. I only heard after The X Factor and we will rally around each other this week. He was a great man.”

A spokesperson for Spanish police said today in Majorca, “[a]t the moment it is not known how he died. There are no signs of suspicious circumstances. “Gately’s time of death was given as approximately 13.45 UTC. The police spokesperson added, “[d]etails remain pretty unclear. We managed to take a look at some documents, they tell us that police received the body around half past four. We think we know he was drinking in a bar, perhaps they went to a restaurant, but none of this is confirmed.”

Gately’s family hope to hold his funeral in Dublin, Gately’s home town. A representative of the family stated they are “shattered”.

Dental Health Care: A Must For Healthy Living}

Posted in Fitness | No Comments

Submitted by: Dr Gowd

While at least a few visits to the dentists chamber become compulsory during the lifetime of the average person; it is more important to contemplate on the conditions under which one has to go to the dentist. Is one going for a regular check-up or, are we talking about one of those painful root-canal sessions? Taking good care of your teeth not only keeps your visits to the dentist at a minimum, it also makes sure that the most basic causes for commonly occurring dental ailments are eliminated.

Richard H. Price DMD, spokesperson for the American Dental Association suggests that one should brush their teeth thoroughly at least twice in a day. A former clinical instructor at the Boston University Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine, Price advices, Be sure to floss at least once a day. I do it after every meal when I can. A regular dental health-care regime prevents periodontal, or gum, disease from developing.

Relationship with food

A healthy diet is related to your teeth in more number of ways than you can imagine. Other than of course the obvious connection of eating, a healthy diet which provides the right balance of calcium, Vitamin D, Vitamin C and even fluoride up to a certain extant can aid in the prevention of decay and thereby provide ample resistance to cavities. On the other hand, food heavy in simple sugars and starch can be a major feast for oral bacteria. A diet filled with sugars and mostly composed of over-processed food can be dangerous for health. This kind of food is usually devoid of vitamins and minerals that are provided by raw fruits and vegetables.

What can the teeth endure?

While food can only be one of the factors leading to the decay of teeth, there are an ample number of bad habits which can cause a serious depreciation of the teeth. Smoking of course tops the list in such a case. Starting from tar which can cause decay to the most obvious nicotine stains, smoking has all the components to turn your teeth into the ugliest feature on your face. Not to forget of course, the major effect it can have on your gums. Forcefully chewing on hard things or cold things like ice can damage teeth as well.

Proper methods of brushing and flossing

It is very important to be vigilant when brushing and flossing your teeth. One should make sure that the act of brushing should remove stray particles from the teeth, massage gums, eliminate plaque and freshen breath. Utmost attention should be given to removing debris from in between teeth while flossing.

Regular dentist check-ups

Remember no matter how healthy you are, it is important that you go for your regular check-ups on time. This is important because often we over-look certain basic problems which when diagnosed at an early stage can prevent a lot of major dental problems. A professionals assessment of your teeth is very important, both as a preventive measure as well as a measure for care.

Regular dental care and health check-ups not only play a preventive role, they can even help reverse gum diseases in their early stages.

At least 50 children have died as the result of a train and bus collision in the Asyut Governorate of Egypt. Governor Yehya Keshk has also said thirteen children were injured in the crash near the city of Manfalut, approximately 230 miles or 350 kilometres south of the Egyptian capital, Cairo.

The bus was transporting approximately sixty pre-school children, with the fatalities aged between four and six, according to BBC News Online. Senior Health Ministry official Mamdouh al-Weshahi reported “several deaths and injuries among the pupils”, who “are being counted and taken to hospitals”.

Speaking from Cairo, Al-Jazeera reporter Sherin Tadros said it was “difficult for the rescuers to operate in the area” as the seriousness of the accident meant “only 22 bodies or so came out in full and the rest are in [pieces]”.

Dr. Mohamed Samir reported witness accounts of the incident to Reuters news agency. “They told us the barriers were open when the bus crossed the tracks and the train collided with it,” he said.

State media has said, in the aftermath of this incident the Egyptian Railway Authority head and transport minister Rashad al-Metini have resigned.

Mortgage Advice More Important Than Ever

Posted in Public Relations | No Comments

More Detail Here:

Submitted by: SeanHorton

If you don t know there is a global credit crunch, you must have been living on another planet. And if you re trying to buy a house or get a mortgage, you will be only too aware of its effects on the mortgage market.

Some people decide there s no point in even looking for a mortgage. Others, especially first time buyers, are completely confused about where to go for a good deal. If you are one of these, it s really important to get mortgage advice.

So why is getting mortgage advice more important now than ever?

YouTube Preview Image

As banks and other lenders are finding it harder to get hold of money to lend to would-be borrowers, their lending criteria get increasingly stiff that is, they impose tougher conditions before they regard you as suitable to lend to. You need mortgage advice to show you how you can maximise your chances of finding a suitable mortgage.

Obviously there is a much more limited choice of mortgages available than there was a year ago, or even a few months ago. Most of us know someone who has been in the process of applying for a particular mortgage, only to find that product is suddenly withdrawn. Not only does this mean they have to start all over again, but they might well lose the house they were after. This is less likely to happen if you have taken mortgage advice first, as the adviser is more likely to know which are the safest products.

Taking advice from a whole of market mortgage adviser, even if it means paying a fee, is the best way to make sure you get the right deal. A lot of products are more competitive when obtained via a broker than when obtained from the actual lender this is because lenders often give brokers advantageous terms because of the business they bring them. On the other hand, in the current market, some lenders are keeping some competitive products to themselves and not making them available through brokers. A whole of market mortgage broker will be able to source the best deal for you, wherever it may be found.

There are so many different factors to weigh up when choosing your mortgage that it s extremely complicated to sort it out on your own. The one with the apparently lowest rates may not be the best one you have to look at charges, redemption fees, and factors such as whether interest accrues daily, monthly or yearly, and whether overpayments are accepted. You also have to be sure that the rate initially offered by the lender is the rate you will actually get, rather than being a headline rate or typical rate . Plus of course you have to decide whether or not to go for a fixed rate mortgage, and whether an interest-only or repayment mortgage is more suitable for you. It can be difficult and stressful and this is where taking mortgage advice can really help you.

With the situation changing every day, virtually everyone is confused you re not alone! But if you take whole of market mortgage advice, you will find the person who is best placed to know how things stand at any given time and to guide you to the best solution.

CoolBrands: New Zealand coolest place in the world

CoolBrands: New Zealand coolest place in the world

Posted in Uncategorized | No Comments

Tuesday, September 26, 2006

New Zealand has been voted the coolest place in the world by United Kingdom brand: CoolBrands.

Coolbrands is owned by a consultancy firm in the UK, called Superbrands. It started in 2001, CoolBrands is a way of telling how ‘cool’ a brand is. Superbrands defines “brands that have become extremely desirable among many style leaders and influencers. They have a magic about them, signifying that users have an exceptional sense of taste and style.”

George Hickton, chief executive of Tourism New Zealand, said: “This win is a vindication of the recent work we’ve put in to the UK market, with the Chelsea Flower Show and our 100% Pure New Zealand advertising campaign ensuring New Zealand stays top of mind with potential travellers.”

“It’s very gratifying to see we are such a desirable destination, especially as this poll includes opinion leaders who can have an real influence on people’s travel choices.” says Mr Hickton. “this is the second award New Zealand has received in the UK this September, with Conde Nast Traveller magazine also voting New Zealand best destination this month.”

Editor of Condé Nast Traveler Magazine, Sarah Miller, called New Zealand a “point of authenticity.” And professional nation brander, Wally Olin, said “New Zealand has been very, very clever. It has turned its disadvantages into advantages.”

“Reaping the benefits of its recent marketing campaign, New Zealand is apparently the hottest place to be,” said the London News.
